I need a mom cave and I need it now! I don't need a space to hang a flat screen tv or a room dedicated to gift wrapping (although that would be heavenly!). All I need is a little corner of the house that's all mine. A place to keep my laptop, sewing machine, fabrics and myriad of project supplies. There doesn't need to be doors or walls but there's an imaginary "keep out" sign surrounding the perimeter of this space. So I'm staking my claim to a corner of the house and it's about to get mommyfied.
Step 1 - transform my perfunctory bookcase into something cute and mom cave approved. This is where I"ll keep my "things" that are off limits to anyone else. May you borrow one of my drafting pencils? Why no, you may not. You need a stapler? Go to the family desk and get one. Mine, mine and all mine. Is that too much to ask?

May I borrow some of your ideas when you reveal?
ReplyDeleteLove the fancy wallpaper on the bookcase ... so often I see geometric patterns {that I love} used on bookcase backs but this seems a perfect place for me to consider something more feminine and with a flourish ... like you said, its "mine, mine, mine".

the bookcase looks awesome! and lucky lucky you!!! a whole momcave to yourself!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Carol! If I had my say though I'd give you an entire room.
ReplyDeleteThe bookcase is beautiful! Can't wait to see the rest!
ReplyDeleteLoving the bookcase...love the wallpaper, it was on my short list for my laundry room...I papered a box to hold all my cleaning supplies with the sample of it...love it! Can't wait to see the rest, though I agree with Karen, I don't think a whole room would be too much to ask for.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
Go for it Carol! Creating a Mom Cave sounds dreamy!
ReplyDeleteI have a little beat up bookcase that I've been wanting to do this very thing too. Thanks for sharing this gorgeous pic. I've been procrastinating on the project and this will give me the motivation (I hope!) to get going! Cheers!
What a great start! The wallpaper is lovely. Looking forward to the rest!
ReplyDeleteIs that your bookcase? Awesome. I need a mom cave too.
ReplyDeleteGood thinking. Not even my computer seems to off limits...I go to make a comment on a blog and it comes from "jackson"
ReplyDeleteYou're right, that patterned paper looks the same! How did the pattern match up for you?
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at the mine, mine, all mine... as my daughter just walked away with 'my' ruler, 'my' scissors, and 'my' pencil! Seriously... do you think she can possibly use the family stash? Oh, right, she can't find what she needs because somehow it wasn't put it back where it belongs the last time it was used! Funny how 'mine' is right where it's supposed to be!!!
I LOVE that you are creating your Mom Cave!!! Keep the photos coming :-)
A Mom Cave is very trendy. I like it. And what do men need a cave for? Seriously.
ReplyDeleteLove it. And love that wallpaper. Keep it going!
ReplyDeleteOh Carol, I need a mom cave too. Such a great idea. I'm loving that wallpaper. Good luck getting the kids to stay away from your stuff (maybe a mousetrap would work) :)
ReplyDeleteA good project and much deserved I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I tend to spread out all over the place : ) The bookcase looks great! More more!
ReplyDeleteWhile our kids are no longer here at home, I'm going to have a "mom" space - a personal space that'll be all mine - in the basement... once the renovation is finished! I sooooo can't wait!! So I totally get your desire for a space all your own. Good for you that you're claiming one, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you stamp your claim on it. Love the bookshelf!!

Good for you Carol. I wish it could be a room all to yourself though. How about a Mom pavillion, or castle or cloud ... mom's dont belong in caves ... LOL
ReplyDeleteI want one too.. good for you. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI agree - you definitely need your own space!
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that!!! Good for you girlfriend, that is a much deserved space. My belief system is that you need to be good to yourself in order to be good to others. The thing about having such a lovely space is buying all of the fun accessories that tickles your fancy. Go crazy!!!
ReplyDeletenice start! Love that your kids are old enough that YOU now get to do the mine mine mine game...and no one can tell you not to :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you. You deserve it!
ReplyDeleteyou lucky woman! What a great space!
ReplyDeleteI just added a link back to you and Jenna Rose on my house tour. I stupidly forgot to add all my links when I posted it, but I've been going back and adding them all in slowly (between bouts of my poor girls getting sick. PS-stomach flu, totally over you!)
I so badly need a MOM CAVE too!

I totally know what you mean - everytime I look for a pair of scissors, stapler or tape it has all disappeared to the kids' areas for crafts - there is nothing on my own desk! I have to find a bookcase for our new home to wallpaper - just LOVE that look. Looking forward to seeing more of the design... (BTW we are very happy to be in the Pacific NW - hope our paths cross in Seattle or Vancouver eventuall :))
ReplyDeleteOOOO that wallpaper in the bookcase!!!
ReplyDeleteMom Caves are awesome! And 100% necessary :).
ReplyDeleteThis is a GREAT idea!! GO GET YOUR OWN STUFF, family! :-)
